People are naturally attracted to the substances that, in caveman days were rare and difficult to find, but are needed for optimal health and lifespan. Fats and sugars are hard to come by in nature but our bodies need them. Nowadays, they are readily available so we tend to overindulge, based on our 'caveman brain' telling us to eat as much of them as possible. Little children have not learned yet that too many sweets are bad, and so, they listen to what their little 'caveman brains' are telling them, which is to eat lots of candy. Kids love candy because it tastes sweet and the sensation they get from eating it makes them happy.
An even more interesting question to consider however would be, do kids like candy because it tastes sweet or does candy taste sweet because kids like it. Candy or anything else that 'tastes' sweet to us has no intrinsic reason to be sweet, I would argue that we evolved to like sweet things because those of us that did prefer to eat sweet things were rewarded (higher carbohydrates which led to better growth during puberty, increased ability to produce offspring). With problems like juvenile onset diabetes however, don't be surprised if in the next 100,000 years, what tastes sweet to us is considered syrupy by our descendants. Gatorade might taste like soda to them and soda would taste like maple syrup. Survival of the fittest is still in play, let the games continue.

By the age of 24 he was working as a senior design engineer for Commodore Business Machines in the mid 1980’s where he is best known for home computers including the Commodore C128 and Plus4/264 series of home computers. Bil continued to design hardware until the mid-1990’s having co-authored a high speed/machine vision patent, when he was bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and has since founded several networking and software design companies. She has a specific interest in robotics that started at the ripe young age of 7 when she built her first bad boy with her father.
